Tribute To Oscar De La Renta (aka one of the most important fashion designers of all times).
Personal Life: Oscar De La Renta was born in the Dominican Republic, July 22nd, 1932. His father was Puerto Rican and his mother Dominican. De La Renta got married twice, first in 1967 with Françoise de Langlade, and later in 1989 with Anne France Mannheimer (nicknamed Annette). De la Renta has stepchildren from both marriages, and an adopted son Moises de la Renta.
Professional Life: At the young age of 18 he moved to Madrid (Spain) where he studied at the Academy of San Fernando. He soon showed interest in the world of fashion, and was soon hired by some of Spain's top fashion houses as a sketcher. It was not long before he took fashion-designing class, with one of Spain's top couturiers, Cristobal Balenciaga. He later moved to Paris, where he joined Antonio Castillo, to work as a couture assistant. De La Rentafound himself in New York City by 1963, working for Elizabeth Arden. Working with her, provided him with valuable experience, which would later come in handy, when launching his own signature trademark of both perfumes and clothing lines. Later, in 1965 he started working for Jane Derby Ltd, an American fashion company, that was active since the 1930s. The labels on the clothes said "Oscar De La Renta for Jane Derby". After Dercy died in 1969 De La Renta took over the company and renamed it to Oscar De La Renta. With that one of the most successful carears in fashion designing began. Apart from the Oscar De La Renta products, ha managed to launch Pink Label producta and ventute into the world of men's clothing, sportswear, perfumes and women's accessories. He also produces a line of home furnishings, ased on items he owns, in association with
American manufacturer Century Furniture. Today, Oscar De La Renta, creates the one masterpiece after the other, deservedly earning a spot in the list of the most important fashion designers of all times.
